Meet Rashmi Juneja

Dr. Juneja attended Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal, India and is a board certified internal medicine specialist. She completed her residency at State University of New York at Buffalo in New York. She is highly trained and sub-specializes in cardiovascular diseases, GI, endocrinology, and women’s health. She has been practicing in West Michigan since 1999.

Meet Jessica Reed

Dr. Reed received her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from the University of Miami in Florida and then received her medical degree from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine in the Cayman Islands. She completed an internal medicine residency training program at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. Following this, she moved back home to Michigan and currently works as a part time faculty at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. Reed enjoys wakeboarding and spending time with her family and cats.

Meet Neil Goodman

Dr. Goodman completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and received his medical degree from Michigan State University. He fulfilled his residency in Family Medicine. Dr. Goodman is also the coordinator/speaker for Health Recovery Program.

Meet Hakima Bachimi Aqel

Dr. Hakima Bachimi Aqel is an internal medicine specialist in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, bringing over 32 years of medical experience. She received her Medical Degree and Doctorate with high honors from the University Hassan II, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1992, which included participation in an exchange program with foreign universities. Dr. Aqel furthered her training through an internal medicine residency program affiliated with Michigan State University and completed a mini residency in women's wellness at the Indianapolis VA. She worked for the Veterans Administration for over 15 years. In addition to her clinical practice, she has provided clinical instruction at Western Michigan University and tutoring at Michigan State University.

Meet Sarah Ames

Sarah Ames, NP, is a Certified Nurse Practitioner who has worked with patients experiencing a variety of acute conditions –  from Pneumonia to knee replacement, post operative care, and stroke and dementia treatment. Part of her training focused on Women’s Health issues, including providing gynecologic care and testing. Sarah is also a Registered Nurse and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ferris State University. She went on to complete her Nurse Practitioner Degree from Spring Arbor University. Sarah is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Basic Life Support and Acute Stroke Assessment. She is accepting patients at our Big Rapids practice.

Dennis Behler, PA, is a nationally certified Physician Assistant, with more than 10 years of experience in internal medicine and pain management. He received his undergraduate degree in health sciences from Grand Valley State University, and completed his Physician Assistant Masters degree at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Dennis is accepting new patients at our Big Rapids and Reed City practices.

Meet Patti Bell

Patti Bell, FNP is excited to care for family medicine patients in the same community where she lives; Big Rapids! Patti received her Masters in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing, and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ferris State University. Patti is a certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse and also holds a Wound Care Certification from the Wound Care Education Institute. Patti is the Founder and President of the West Michigan Association of Rehabilitation Registered Nurses.

Meet Dawn Giese

Dawn Giese, FNP, received her Associates in Nursing from Ferris State University and went on to complete her Bachelors and Masters in Nursing Education in addition to her Masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain College of Nursing. Dawn has a wealth of healthcare experience, ranging from Public Health to cancer services, infection prevention, Walk-In care, and Occupational Medicine. Dawn holds the following certifications: Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation and is a Certified Lactation Counselor and a TB instructor for the State of Michigan. She is a  member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and  the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Meet Casey Green

Casey Green, PA, is a Family Medicine Physician Assistant who will be caring for patients at our Reed City practice. Casey received her Bachelor of Science Degree, with highest honors, and went on to complete her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies – both degrees from Central Michigan University. The Evart native most recently worked at Spectrum Health Family Practice in Canadian Lakes, Big Rapids, and Reed City. Casey is certified in Basic Life Support and by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is dedicated to focusing on the health of rural residents, with an emphasis on managing chronic medical conditions and the mental health of her patients.

Meet Ashley Goote

Ashley grew up in Mecosta County, where she spent her early years at Morley Stanwood Community Schools. She went on to complete her undergraduate and graduate education at Ferris State University where she acquired her Doctorate in Pharmacy, or PharmD degree. Ashley has worked as a Pharmacist since 2005, and became Pharmacy Manager at West Michigan Pharmacy when it opened in 2015. She has served as an American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor and has also taught an American Pharmacists Association Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Training Program. Ashley lives in Big Rapids with her husband, Jonathan, daughter Hadley, and yellow Lab Sofia Dog. In her free time, she enjoys reading, travelling, and kayaking.

Born and raised near Chippewa Lake, Justin Hampel, Pharm. D., is a graduate of Ferris State University College of Pharmacy. For the last 17 years he served as the pharmacy manager at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Big Rapids, where it was his privilege to care for the residents of Mecosta County. Justin and his wife live on their family's farm where they raise Quarter Horses and Hereford Cattle

Meet Lisa Shoemaker

Lisa Shoemaker, FNP, is a Family Nurse Practitioner with decades of experience that ranges from specialized certification in Gerontology to Walk-In care, occupational health, oncology, inpatient psychiatric care, ER, medical-surgical care and quality and risk management. Lisa received her Master of Science – Leadership & Education, from Regis University in Denver, Colorado before obtaining her Master in Nursing Practice from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. Lisa is certified in Basic Life Support, has served as a Professional Nurse Tutor, and has lead provider education for physicians, specialists, and other medical staff to improve systems that aid in quality and practice improvement.

Meet Nicole Urbon

Nicole Urbon, AGNP-C, is a Certified Nurse Practitioner with more than 10 years of nursing experience in home health care, including acute care and the management of chronic diseases. Nicole obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing from Montcalm Community College, followed by her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Nursing from Spring Arbor University. She is certified as a Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Meet Patricia (Patty) Jackson

Patty Jackson, PA-C, completed her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences at Michigan State University, and completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Grand Valley State University. Growing up in Mecosta and completing the majority of her clinical experiences in rural Michigan settings, she is eager to form long-lasting relationships with her patients. In her free time, Patty enjoys spending time with her daughter and exploring all of the beautiful places that Michigan has to offer.

Meet Crystal Curtis

West Michigan Pain is pleased to welcome Crystal Curtis, PA, to our team. Crystal graduated Summa Cum Laude from Central Michigan University with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, and obtained her Master of Physician Assistant degree from Grand Valley State University. Crystal has worked as an athletic trainer at Spectrum Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and for the Grand Rapids Storm Basketball Team. She came to us from the Grand River Emergency Medical Group where she saw patients in the Mercy Health Emergency Department in Grand Rapids. Crystal is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac, Trauma and Pediatric Life Support. Crystal has a passion for preventative medicine, treating orthopedic injuries, and creating healthy, active lifestyles. She is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a Certified Licensed Athletic Trainer.

Meet Sarah Reed

Sarah Reed, NP, comes to us from Bronson Healthcare Group, where she served as a charge nurse, in the Hemodialysis Unit and Chemotherapy Administration, caring for Cancer patients. Sarah has also worked as a Clinical Instructor at Kellogg Community College, where she trained nurses. Sarah received her Nursing training from Southwestern Michigan Community College, went on to obtain a Bachelor in Science and Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University and studied at Walden University to become Certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Sarah has worked side by side with physicians, nurses, case management, pharmacists and social workers and is excited to offer her patients that same coordinated care at West Michigan Pain.
